Setup

    Install Download the notarized disk image, open it, and drag the app to Applications.

    Launch Open whisper_hotkey from Applications. Apple verifies the stapled notarization ticket automatically.

    Allow Microphone, Accessibility, and Input Monitoring.

  4. 4

    Choose Follow the macOS default microphone automatically or select a specific input from the menu bar.

    Dictate Use your selected key and behavior.

Local dictation data flow The selected hotkey starts temporary capture. Local Whisper uses the bundled model and inserts text into the focused field. Temporary audio is deleted. When enabled in Settings, Copy Last Dictation provides a clipboard fallback using only the latest successful transcript, kept in memory until the app quits.
