Privacy policy

Effective October 23, 2026

whisper_hotkey is a dictation utility for macOS. It collects no data. Nothing you say, type, or configure is transmitted to the developer or to anyone else.

What the app processes, and where

Network

The App Store build of whisper_hotkey has no network entitlement. The operating system prevents it from opening any network connection, so no audio, transcript, setting, usage statistic, or crash report can leave your Mac through the app.

Permissions

The app asks macOS for Microphone, Accessibility, and Input Monitoring access. Each is used solely for dictation: capturing speech, locating the insertion point and inserting text, and detecting the dictation key together with Return and Escape during a dictation. If you choose the optional "Text and OCR" screen-vocabulary mode, the app also asks for Screen Recording, used only to read words in the active window on your Mac. You can revoke any of them at any time in System Settings.

Third parties

There are none. No analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services are included.

Children

The app does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
